My name is Joan and I heart designer fabrics. I used to pick out a quilt pattern and then go shop for fabrics in the colors and styles to go with it. Then I discovered designers and fell more in love than ever with design, color, and style. So now I find myself collecting my favorite fabrics and designers and then choosing quilt patterns to best show off the fabric. First it was Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett. Then I took a little break from quilting (perpetual grad student) and returned to discover Anna Maria Horner and Jennifer Paganelli (ooooo, ahhhh). Then I met other quilters online (Facebook, blogs, and then flickr). Through them I now know of and covet fabrics by Heather Ross, Heather Bailey, Denyse Schmidt…. Where will it end???
But I’m still back on AMH and JP. I started by purchasing ½ yard cuts of some of their fabrics on sale online (AMH – Good Folks and JP – Mod Girls). Then I found more Good Folks on sale at a large local fabric store (accidentally purchasing more of some of the same fabrics – oops). Of course, I just HAD to have the whole line, so I went a searching on Etsy. Being a newbie (and a bit silly) I somehow managed to purchase more ½ cuts and the entire line of 24 fabrics in fat quarters. I can’t really say I’m upset to have ordered more than I intended, except that I just spent the money that I would have spent on more Mod Girls (or Pretty Please) – and, of course, I need some Amy Butler Belle... Anyway, I feel I can somehow manage to use up all my ½ yards and fat quarters, but it only seems fair to spread the wealth a bit and give away my 4 extra ½ yard cuts (for a total of 2 yards of AMH fabric-y goodness). I’m typing this quickly so that I don’t change my mind.
And here are the beautiful Anna Maria Horner fabrics, just waiting to be adopted to a loving new home where they will be cherished as I have cherished them here.
Don't you just ADORE these Jennifer Paganelli fabrics?!?! And don't they look lonely?!?!? They definitely need friends -- soon!
I just love that this fabric is "Molly" -- because that is the name of my adorable daughter!
And so, if you want to get in on my FIRST EVER GIVEAWAY, (1) leave a comment telling me who your favorite designers are and/or (2) follow my blog. Oooh I'm first in!!! I guess you know who my favourite of all time designer is and has been for a long time...the master himself...Kaffe Fassett (& friends). Joan, Your story sounds so similar to many of ours. I have to say that I have many "favorite" designers, including many that you have mentioned. But my absolute, hands down fave has to be Kaffe. Those fabrics that you are giving away are just gorgeous and are definitely my favorite color combos and would have a terrific home here. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteHere is my second comment to tell you that I follow your blog. But you already knew that, right? lol
ReplyDeleteThese fabrics are great. I wasn't familiar with AMH stuff and am delighted that you've introduced me to it. My favorite designers are Jo Morton, Lynne Hagmeier (Kansas Troubles) and a lot of the Thimbleberries designs. I'm a traditionalist I guess, but always willing and excited to branch out. Thanks for the chance in your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I've happily become a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite designer is Sandy Gervais who designs for Moda. I just love the stuff she comes up with especially during holidays. And I have the same problem as you...but it all gets used eventually. It really is fun to have all the fabrics in a line...makes quilting so easy!
ReplyDeleteHi there! What a neat thing to be a part of...a first give away! Woo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteErin McMorris this week. I love her Wildwood Collection.
I will mention this giveaway on my blog:

Awesome giveaway! Amy Butler was also my "gateway drug" into the world of designer fabrics. My favorites are Tula Pink, Urban Chiks, Joel Dewberry, AMH and, of course, I still love Amy Butler. A new favorite is Momo ... designer of the Wonderland line and now, Odyssea.
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting to quilt, but so far I love Amy Butler fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI love Heather Bailey right now, such pretty fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI'm with John. AB was my gateway drug too! Pretty much I just love it all!!
ReplyDeleteI actually found your site through a comment you made on Anna Maria Horner's blog who is my personal favorite. Aside from her amazing kids and her amazing fabrics, she's just got such a beautiful way of describing her life. And now I'm following you too! Because I collect craft blogs like a freaking addict. =)

I don't have a favorite designer - I choose the fabric separately, but I'll say Jennifer Paganelli so I can qualify for the drawing.
ReplyDeleteI have to go with Heather Ross. There's something about the whimsy and colour choices that speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great giveaway. I think my favorite right now is Anna Maria Horner, just because I think Good Folks is the most beautiful fabric collection ever created, but it changes from time to time. Love your blog; following you now, too!
ReplyDeleteI do not have a favorite designer yet. I do like the line Gallery in Red. I already follow your blog! Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteHi there!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win some fabric . . I think that I am definitely a Denyse Schmidt fanatic. I think her colours are amazing. I am also a big fan of sanae for moda's arcadia line. So pretty!

I'm signing up as a follower now, too!
My favorite design is Amy Butler.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely fabrics! Thanks a lot. And I am a new follower ^^
What a bummer for you (buying to much fabric) but a blessing for someone (the winner)! I'm not sure that I have a favorite designer, because generally I like lines. A few that I love right now are Be Merry from Riley Blake and Authentic from Moda. Thanks for the giveaway.

I have a hard time picking a favorite designer. I'm on a Heather Ross kick, probably because her prints are impossible to find, but I also like Michael Miller and Anna Maria Horner.
ReplyDeleteThis is so ironic-I've 'followed' AnnaMaria for a long time now, and cannot find any Good Folks in the stores! Yeah, sure would love to take those off your hands...JP too, I've hardly ever seen hers in the stores I frequent, either. I have to go with Denyse Schmidt aaaa and Dena Fishbein. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am certainly a follower and glad to have found you! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance at your lovely booty. I think I am in love with Heather Baily freshcut and wildwood right now. but I also covet Sandi Henderson's Farmers MArket!!

One (of many) favorite designers that I have right now is Lila Tueller.
ReplyDeleteI love that story. It sounds so much like something I would do.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite designers are Anna Maria Horner because her colors are amazing, Heather Ross because her fabrics make me smile and Lizzy House because the prints are so fun.
Thanks for the giveaway and have a great week! =]
Oh my I would love to start collecting some designer fabrics for some new projects. Trying to finish up a quilt for one of my daughters, none designer style. Thanks for that chance to win. I am also now following your blog.
ReplyDeleteNot sure of the designer name - but I am loving Clementine by Moda. Would be fun to work with good fabric for a change -- right now I can only get the cheap stuff from Joanne's.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Love the fabrics! These designer lines are coming out faster than I can keep up with but I did buy a fat quarter lot of Heather Baileys that I'm savouring. I love the Jennifer Paganellis and of course the Kaffes are top of the list.
ReplyDeleteI guess I am kind of new, both to blogging and second to knowing who some of the designers are...I've only just discovered and bought the Material Obsession book and am in love with it and of course love Amy Butler too. Now that I subscribe to several blogs (this one included as of today) I am discovering the virtures of some really lovely fabrics, so if I could by chance win a giveaway.... then I can begin to convert my stash, that now pales in comparison to the gorgeous stuff that you all use! Thanks for having a giveaway! ~Andrea
